This week, we were pleased to welcome Mark Asseily to our Sixth Form Speaker Programme. Mark spoke about the fascinating world of interpersonal neurobiology, exploring how our minds make sense of the world and how neuropsychological factors shape our relationships and actions. He shared how training our mind to align with intuition can lead to greater joy and meaning in life.
Mark explained the concept of “mindsight” and how focused attention, open awareness, and kind intentions can help us navigate the challenges of life. He emphasised the importance of integration in creating a healthy mind, where linking different parts of our neural and interpersonal systems allows us to become more adaptable, resilient, and stable.
It was inspiring to hear Mark’s insights, which drew on his study of micro-phenomenology across various disciplines and cultures. His talk encouraged us to reflect on how we can develop a deeper awareness of ourselves and others to create more meaningful relationships and a balanced outlook on life. We are grateful to Mark for his thought-provoking talk and for helping us see the mind in a new light.
