Emitt Rhodes was an American singer-songwriter who has been called the “One-Man Beatles” due to his writing style and instrumentation. His first album was a critical success and was called one of the best albums of the decade.
In 1973, Rhodes released his fourth album, Farewell to Paradise, and his musical style was so close to The Beatles, and especially Paul McCartney, that some fans thought it was a Beatles record! Rhodes wrote all of the songs on his albums and played all the instruments and vocals in the tracks, which all perfectly emanate many of The Beatles’ songs.
Have a listen to a few of Rhodes’ tracks below (Somebody Made For Me, Fresh as a Daisy and Lullaby) and see if you can distinguish him from the classic Beatles sound!
