On Thursday 15th January, FHS had the opportunity to welcome Sir Jeremy Hunt MP, the current MP for Godalming and Ash. He was also the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Foreign and Health Secretary. His visit offered an insightful look into politics beyond the classroom. As a Politics Prefect, it was especially interesting to hear him speak candidly about his experiences in public office and the realities of political decision-making at the highest level. His talk went beyond theory, bringing to life how policy choices directly affect people and communities across the country.
What stood out most was his emphasis on leadership, responsibility, and the idea that politics can be a force for hope and positive change. Hearing firsthand how politicians navigate pressure, disagreement, and long-term challenges was genuinely inspiring and encouraged many of us to think more deeply about our own roles as active citizens. It was a thought-provoking visit that reinforced why political engagement matters and how young people can shape the future.
