On Wednesday 28th September, we held our Sixth Form Information Evening.
The school hall and the Morison Building, which houses our Sixth Form centre, were adorned with boards providing information about our multitude of A level subjects, alongside their respective teachers to give the girls and their parents more information about each course. Our current Year 11 and their parents mingled with families from other schools as they took their seats in the hall to hear from our speakers.
Headmistress Lucy Elphinstone introduced the evening, before we heard from our Director Of Sixth Form Rachel Sawyer, who described life in years 12 and 13, from our academic achievements and impressive Co-Curricular programme to our newly refurbished Sixth Form centre and the high level of support available to all our girls. This was followed by speeches from Head Girl Alice and Head Ambassador Yasmin. Both girls spoke brilliantly as they described their love of Sixth Form life at FHS. They highlighted the outstanding quality of teaching, support provided by staff, the close friendships they have made, the myriad of opportunities to take on leadership roles and the wonderful facilities at the school just to name a few!
We were also lucky enough to welcome back three of our alumnae to speak to our guests. Susannah Barran, Ayushi Gupta and Miranda Hills all described how their time in the FHS Sixth Form had influenced their future life and careers, and the fond memories they have of the school. All three believed that without Francis Holland Sixth Form their lives would not have turned out in the way they have. We are so grateful to Susannah, Ayushi and Miranda for coming back to speak to us.
Overall, it was a fantastic evening which gave a real flavour of life in the Sixth Form.
