Our FHS Young Reporter, Liberty, has again put pen to paper for This is Local London. Her latest article weighs up the centuries old debate: is there still a place for the monarchy in modern society?

In the lead up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Liberty acknowledges how Elizabeth II stands as a symbol of national unity and an emblem of the country’s pride, suggesting that affection for the monarchy largely revolves around collective adoration for our Queen. She also predicts a ‘cultural shift’ when Prince Charles takes to the throne, however ultimately coming to the conclusion that the monarchy still plays a fundamental role in British society.
