There was a break in the rain this week as Years 1 – 4 went on their Francis Holland Foresters’ trip to Norbury Park, Surrey. They had a wonderful day of bushcraft activities and outdoor learning, followed by hot chocolates and other Easter treats. Years 1 and 2 went on a phonics and maths based Easter egg hunt, solving clues to find out the mystery of ‘the missing Easter basket’ and ‘the winner of the Easter bonnet competition’. After this, Year 2 made their own tree identification wheels and went on a nature walk around the forest, identifying different trees by their fallen leaves and creating tally charts. Year 1 spent the afternoon making their own magic wands using natural materials and wool. Years 3 and 4 found themselves trapped on a desert island and had to make their own shelters to survive the ordeal! They had a variety of resources that they had to ‘win’ by finding magic coins around the forest. They had a wonderful time exploring the forest, problem solving and team building. Well done to everyone!
