On Tuesday 12th October, Year 6 visited the Chelsea Physic Garden to participate in a workshop celebrating Black History month.

Venturing through the botanical gardens, the girls were able to discover plants with meaningful connections to African and Caribbean heritage. They were introduced to many tropical, unknown, and even poisonous plants. The girls learnt about significant people and places closely connected with Black history. They also studied the works of George Washington Carver and Mary Seacole, with some recreating one of her herbal remedies used in the Crimean War.

It was invaluable to take the learning outdoors and further our study of Black History Month in our local area.
