After hearing from a wide array of professions, the girls were asked which other potential career paths interested them. One third of the class raised their hands for someone with a wealth of experience in interior design. On Wednesday morning, Mrs Champalimaud came to the rescue and delivered another fantastic careers presentation. The focus was on inspiration, perseverance and following a passion. Mrs Champalimaud was inspired by her grandfather, a famous Belgian artist. As a young girl, being surrounded by his masterpieces, she knew she would follow these creative footsteps. Her father was a textile designer who rose to eminence when the King of Belgian showed interest in his talents.

With the stage set for similar success, Mrs Champalimaud came to London to study Art History followed by interior design. After finding her niche in luxury bed linens, she travelled the world in pursuit of luxury and bespoke linens. Currently, Mrs Champalimaud’s designs don the interior of luxury hotel suites across the globe. The girls were fascinated with the lengthy process of sourcing rough cotton and transforming this into a final product of beautifully designed sheets and pillowcases. Precision and perfectionism were essentials for the job. Another marvellous talk to leave girls pondering the potential of future professions.
