To be part of the strong, resilient, and kind FHS community is so special. Year 5 celebrated Internationals Women’s Day on Tuesday by inviting their parents into School to watch their class assembly. The girls focused on inspirational women such as Rosa Parks, Edith Cavell and Greta Thunberg, and how they have successfully led positive change.

Over the last week, Year 5 have been energised and motivated by their research. They have decided that, collectively, the girls at FHJS have all the characteristics of these strong, courageous, and caring women, and can all contribute to positive change in their own way.

Touching performances by the girls included a poem by Minty’s group, freeze frames, dramatic re-enactments of historical scenes about Rosa Parks, and their class song ‘Believe’. What is key to take from International Women’s Day and the Year 5 assembly, is the significant positive difference that these women have made to today’s society, and secondly, that every single girl at FHJS can help shape our future.
