FHS was privileged to welcome Becky Wilde, Olympic rower and bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic GamesĀ in the double sculls, for an unforgettable visit. Becky shared her incredible journey with our students, offering insight into the determination, resilience and dedication required to reach the pinnacle of sport.

During two special assemblies for Years 7 to 11, Becky spoke about her experiences at the Olympics, the challenges she faced including overcoming injuries and the intense training and trials leading up to Paris 2024. She also discussed the importance of nutrition, preparation and mental resilience, giving our students a true behind the scenes look at life as an elite athlete. Becky encouraged everyone to chase their dreams, whatever they may be, and to never place limits on what they can achieve. The girls were captivated by her story, feeling inspired and motivated, and eagerly asked Becky questions about her journey.

Later in the morning, Becky played a key role in launching our Athlete Mentoring Programme, where she worked directly with our athletes on goal setting and personal development. She shared her own approach to setting and achieving goals, answering more of the girls’ questions in a more personal setting. A highlight of the session was the incredible moment when students got to see and even touch Beckyā€™s Olympic medal.

Beckyā€™s visit was an extraordinary opportunityĀ for our pupils, leaving them with a renewed sense of ambition and belief in their own potential. We are incredibly grateful to her for sharing her time, wisdom and inspiration with us. We look forward to following her sporting journey as she sets her sights on the LA 2028 Olympics, and we wish her every success in her pursuit of future Olympic glory.
