On Wednesday, Junior Hall was filled with the sounds of African drums as Year 2 took part in a workshop designed to give them a flavour of music from Africa.
It was exciting for the girls to see this terms topic come to life, and to use their music ability to enhance this learning. The girls started off by learning about the different notes that sound when you hit the different areas of the drum, and how to create different pitched sounds when playing. The girls experimented with different rhythms and speeds, and worked beautifully together to learn some pieces for a special performance for their parents at the end of the day. This included a dance routine, all of which was learned in one day – well done ladies!
