Lara and Emily in Year 10 progressed to the second round of the prestigious ESU Competition, where they debated against imposing a tax on fatty foods. The girls convincingly argued that there are many governmental inefficiencies with such a tax that would disproportionately impact lower-income households, driving further inequality. They had the opportunity to question the arguments made by other teams, such as whether globalisation has perpetuated social inequality and what impact music copy-writing has on the creative industry.
