On Thursday 9th and Friday 10th May, the Upper Sixth celebrated the end of their time at FHS, Sloane Square with a leavers dinner, service at St Marys Church and reception with parents.
Held on the evening of Thursday 9th May, the leavers dinner was a special occasion where staff and students came together to celebrate and share memories of their time at FHS. Many of our Sixth Form students stayed behind after school to help transform the Senior Hall into a dazzling venue. Complete with enchanting floral arrangements, tables sprinkled with confetti and an extremely popular photo booth, it is safe to say that their hard work paid off in the end! Our catering team prepared an array of mouth-watering dishes, including fillet of beef, mushroom risotto and corn fed chicken with seasonal vegetables.
During the course of the evening, our leavers enjoyed a whole host of entertainment, including a performance by the Chapel Choir; speeches from our Head Girls and Heads of Sixth Form; a stunning dance by Anastasia and Lexi and a light-hearted Upper Sixth Leavers video.
The leavers service at St. Marys Church took place the following afternoon. The congregation, made up of parents, staff and students, performed I Was Glad by Hubert Parry and Lift Thine Eyes by Felix Mendelssohn and gave a reading of A.A. Milnes beloved poem Us Two, which was specially chosen for the service. The leavers were then welcomed into the Alumni community, with representatives of the School lighting the students’ candles as a sign of their love and commitment to them as they journey forth.
The service concluded with an outstanding rendition of Queens infamous hit We Are the Champions. Our leavers then placed their candles into stands and returned to the school for an afternoon tea reception, where parents had the opportunity to say goodbye to the school and give thanks to teachers, many of whom have taught their daughters since Year 7.
