On Wednesday 8th May, the artistic endeavours of our girls were celebrated in the annual Junior School Art Exhibition.
This year’s theme was the ‘Moon’ and our girls displayed amazing creativity in their interpretations: everything from astronauts helmets to moon cheese, photographs of the moon to light installations.
We were delighted to welcome three independent judges who had the very tough job of choosing the winners – not an envious role! Carlos Jimenez (film maker and photographer), Dillwyn Smith (artist) and Faye Haskins (artist and printmaker) carefully perused each piece and decided a winner for each year group, before finally agreeing on an overall winner. The full list of winners is listed below. Congratulations to you all!
Thank you as well to all the parents who so generously donated to the development of Junior School Art. Over the next year we are planning to introduce various initiatives to develop art and creativity across the Junior School from workshops, improved resources, further exhibitions and the renovation of the existing Square Room into a dedicated Infant Art Room. One of the ways we are raising money for this renovation is by encouraging you to Sponsor a Paint Brush. These paint brushes will be printed with a name of your choice on them and then transformed by Miss Ninette into a piece of art in itself to be displayed in the new Infant Art Room. At last nights exhibition we raised over £1,800 via our paintbrush initiative. Should you wish to be involved in this project, do contact Holly Mumford in our Development Office.
