This week, Years 7 and 8 were enthralled by our third annual TIPS week! Our very own festival of creativity, TIPS stands for “Thinking Innovatively and Problem Solving”. TIPS week develops girls’ transferable life skills like creativity, collaboration, and communication.
A vast array of workshops were made available to girls; from Stage Combat and Architecture, to Film making and Jewelry making. Many of the workshops were led by our very own passionate teaching and support staff. Mrs Bannister from Resources took time away from her vital regular duties to teach girls how to knit their own beautiful scarves; girls walking through the playground before lunch were treated to the rare sight of parachuting eggs in Mrs Marshall & Dr Price’s ‘Eggcraft Controllers’ workshop; several girls sported fashionable new skirts crafted with Miss Geussens in ‘Rise of the (sewing) Machines)’; and during the ‘Interior Design’ workshop, Miss Allen and Miss Mackenzie were impressed by many of the girls’ vision for a redesign of the staff room!
Throughout the week girls were engaged, challenged, reflective, collaborative, and full of pride in their work. Here are some comments from the girls themselves:
“This day was one of the best school days ever!”
“Curiosity is important for finding out if you will enjoy something and if you never find out or try youÂ’ll never know.”
“I think that if you try something youÂ’ve never done before it would make a huge impact on the things you do next in life as you would feel more brave and committed.”
