We had a fantastic TIPS Week filled with diverse activities and enriching experiences! On Tuesday, Year 7 participated in internal workshops such as Embroidery, Stage Makeup, Latin Dance, and Self Defence, while Year 8 enjoyed an adventurous day at Crystal Maze and Hyde Park for a scavenger hunt—congratulations to Group L for winning the hunt despite the rain! On Thursday, Year 7 visited the V&A and Natural History Museum for bespoke workshops on Design Thinking, Building Sustainable Change with Lego, and a dinosaur Top Trump competition—well done to Group 4 for creating the best Top Trumps! Meanwhile, Year 8 spent the day with the Young Film Academy, producing amazing short films! Today Year 7 had their turn with the Young Film Academy, creating brilliant short movies, while Year 8 engaged in fun internal workshops including Task-Master, Bank Heist Escape Room, Scottish Reeling, Board Game Making, and more!

Students also took the time to reflect on how they have developed their 7Cs (Creativity, Curiosity, Commitment, Collaboration, Communication, Craftmanship and Confidence). Here are some of their thoughts below:

Year 7 Internal Workshops;

  • My favourite workshop was Dissection. Surprisingly, I wasn’t squeamish at all. I was so excited to see the inside of the rat! I definitely want to do loads of biology later on. Arella L
  • My highlight of the first day of TIPS, was Screen Printing, because we were creative and it was fun to create tote bags! Ambre A
  • I found Latin Dance quite challenging at the beginning (I kept missing the beats) but after many tries I finally did it. I learned that I should always be resilient and patient when I find something hard. I really enjoyed dancing in partners. Inès G

Year 7 Day Trip to Museums

  • My highlight was designing the Lego solutions of costal problems because it was optimistic and creative and we could work with friends. Evelyn J
  • I most enjoyed the V&A Design Thinking workshop because it was really fun to make our own prototype and I thought that the gallery with all the designs was really cool. Tallulah T
  • I loved creating our own product in the design thinking workshop, because it allowed you to be creative and create something. Laura K

Year 8 Day Trip to Crystal Maze and Hyde Park

  • I really enjoyed the Crystal Maze Experience as we learned all about teamwork. It was all about helping each other and getting through the tasks. Isabel A-H
  • In the Scavenger Hunt and Crystal Maze, we had to work together as a team, and in crystal maze we had to stay committed, even when it was hard! Addison M
  • The Crystal Maze was so much fun. It was an amazing experience I had no idea about. I will be sure to bring my family another day :) Hyde Park was also very fun (even though the weather was not on our side! It was still a great bonding time with friends and teachers. Gaby H

Year 8 Young Film Academy

  • I really enjoyed all of the sessions with YFA but especially collaborating with the people in my group. Juliet B-F
  • My highlight was working together as a team and showing our films to our friends. Vittoria Di A
  • I think what we found the most challenging was working under time pressure. We had to try have a good idea, film and edit it all under a short period of time. We overcame this by brainstorming ideas and just trying to collaborate well together and being as productive as possible. Freideriki-Eos G
