On Monday 4th February, we welcomed Fariha and Tahir Alam to our Assembly where students Amy and Lucrezia were presented with the Alam Award for STEM Communication
The award is in memory of His Excellency Ambassador Mansoor Alam, a diplomat par excellence and humanitarian who devoted his life to public service.
In order to win the competition, students were required to conduct independent research into a topical area of STEM, present their findings to a panel and answer questions about their work posed by key members of our Science Department.
Amy demonstrated her keen interest in gene editing, presenting content rarely discussed at GCSE Level. For this excellent piece of work, Amy was presented with a cheque for £350. Lucrezia was awarded £150 for her presentation on genetic modification.
