This week at Lunch ‘n Learn, Mr Keay, maths teacher and head of Chess Club, discussed all things chess.
From the basics to professional strategies, our STEAM enthusiasts learned everything there is to know about the great game. We were taught about ‘fork’ and ‘pin’ strategies, as well as an in-depth walk-through of the ‘sacrifice’ strategy used in Harry Potter. Many stayed after the lecture to complete chess puzzles and have lively discussions. Even the physics teachers contributed their guesses for the number of squares on a chess board. Can you work it out? (Hint: this includes single squares, 8×8, and everything in between.) Come find me for the answer!
Join us next time for another exciting Lunch ‘n Learn Lecture!
