This year’s fantastic Senior School Quiz Night took place on Monday 13th November in our Senior Hall, which was beautifully decorated with large sprays of autumnal foliage. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents and staff to get together for a fun evening and to raise money for the Mvumi School in Tanzania.

We were treated to a glimpse of life at the Mvumi School when Mr Dyson, Miss L James and Year 11 pupils, Mika and Elizabeth, gave a short presentation about their visit over half-term. We heard how they were inspired by the people they met, the impact of FHS donations and support, and how they would one day love to return to Mvumi School.

‘Dr Fox’, our quizmaster, ably assisted by a team of Year 12 pupils, kept the evening buzzing as the different rounds were played. The evening culminated in a nail-biting play-off between a Year 7 team and the teachers’ team. The final question ‘In 1841 there was a naval battle between Uruguay and Argentina. When Uruguay ran out of cannonballs, which cheese did they use instead’ was one that neither team could have prepared for. The correct answer of ‘Edam cheese’ was given by Ms Stansfield, Head of Sixth Form, on behalf of the teachers’ team who, yet again, were victorious. Thank you to everyone who participated.
