At FHS, we are always looking to make, and to be, the difference in society. We look to achieve this via our Outreach programme, in which we look to help our charity partners and to fundraise for important charitable causes in creative and fun ways . We are so proud of our girls for their efforts so far this term, which have been summarised below…

First of all, our Year 8s have brightened the lives of elderly people at Katherine Low Settlement (KLS), one of our most longstanding charity partners which was founded by an FHS alumna in 1924. 110 Easter Eggs have been donated by Year 8 for the KLS Elders (one from every Year 8 girl… and a few extras!), and every single girl also handmade an Easter card for a member of the KLS Elder Lunch Club. Year 8 have made two visits to the Lunch Club on consecutive Thursdays in March and it has been a joy to see how much their visits were appreciated and enjoyed by both sides. The KLS Spring Steps campaign launches today, and if you would like to get involved in volunteering (or just want to find out more!), please email Year 10 parent Annabel Bennett at annabel@klsettlement.org.uk

Another charity we have been supporting this term is Hope and Homes for Children, for whom we have raised £1285 from our Valentine’s Mufti Day and Sixth Form Playground Takeover. Hope and Homes are doing incredibly valuable work, protecting children in Ukraine, Moldova and Romania by supporting families suffering hardship.

Last but not least, we have so far raised £1114 for the International Red Cross Urgent Ukraine Appeal from Book Week Mufti Day, and will also be fundraising for this next week via our Gym & Dance Display and Pi Day Bake Sale.

Thank you so much to our Head of Outreach, Mr Galloway, whose tireless energy and enthusiasm is an inspiration to us all, and to our parents, staff and girls for their hard work, commitment and generosity in supporting these invaluable causes.
