The London weather prevented us from seeing the rare astronomical phenomenon of a solar eclipse above our school.

Although the total eclipse could only be seen from the Faroe Islands, here we were expecting to see about 87% of the Sun covered by the Moon. With great enthusiasm and enterprise, girls looked to the skies, donning their solar spectacles or cardboard box viewers, hoping for the slightest break in the clouds. Alas, it was all over before the Sun showed its face.

Roll on 2090, when the UK gets its own total solar eclipse! Let’s just hope it isn’t cloudy.
