This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Clarissa Ward, an award-winning British-American journalist, as our speaker.

Clarissa is currently working as the Chief International Correspondent for CNN, covering global events, including wars and humanitarian crises. She has reported from countries like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, often working in hostile environments. Her journalism is marked by in-depth, on-the-ground storytelling.

We were really inspired by her journey from Yale University to working for Fox News as an overnight desk assistant in 2003 to moving on to work for ABC and CBS before coming to where she is now.

It is important for us to hear the realities and struggles that journalists face when reporting from such dangerous places. This allows us to be reminded of our role in a society that is constantly provided with news from social media, which is to expose ourselves to complex and challenging views that defy our own.
