On Thursday 24th January, award-winning comedian, writer and actor Catherine Bohart took to the stage in this week’s Sixth Form Speaker Programme.
It was an immense pleasure to welcome Catherine Bohart to Francis Holland again. Catherine is a stand-up comedian who spoke to us about the vicissitudes of her previous experiences experimenting in what she wanted to do. She explained to us how she very quickly realised that acting was not her forte and neither was law. She described her rocky path to comedy and highlighted the difficulties and perks of being in such a creative job. She also spoke movingly and honestly about her experience of mental health problems, as well as the challenges of workingin a male-dominated world, where women are not expected to be funny. Staff and students alike immensely enjoyed Catherine’s facetiousness and witty remarks as it was an afternoon not to miss!
