A group of enthusiastic gymnasts travelled to The Lady Eleanor Holles School on Saturday 16th January to take part in a triangular gymnastics competition with City of London School for Girls.
The girls had to produce a competition routine for the floor and vault apparatus, which had been rehearsed at numerous early morning and lunchtime sessions this term.
This was a new opportunity and experience for our girls and they all performed brilliantly despite understandable nerves at the beginning of the competition. After a procession from all of the teams, LEH, CITY and FHS the U13’s were first to take to the floor.
All five routines were performed with control and lots of smiles. The girls adapted to the floor space brilliantly and performed their dramatic and fluent routines. A special mention to Isabella who came 1st in her age category scoring an impressive overall total of 30 points between her vault and floor routine. The girls performed their vault routines with poise and control and their excellent execution meant the team came a commendable second overall in the competition.
The competition was performed in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and thanks should go to LEH for hosting such an enjoyable competition. The girls have not only gained lots of valuable experience but also picked up some very helpful tips and pointers to go away and develop within their own performances for the British Schools Competition in a few weeks. Well done girls!
Special mention to Isabella in Year 7 who won the gold medal, beating all other gymnasts from LEH and City.
