On Tuesday evening, India, Partnerships Ambassador, led an excellent evening of presentations given by students from FHS and Chelsea Academy.
The overarching theme was The Future and several sixth formers gave impressively well-researched and enlightening talks on a range of issues facing the world today. Xorsheed gave a wonderful overview of British politics and spoke passionately about the importance of using your vote; India explained the effects of climate change on coral, urging us to take action; Safa led us expertly through the intricacies of stem cell research, opening our eyes to both its exciting possibilities and ethical challenges. From Chelsea Academy, we had an impressively wide-ranging and well informed presentation from Sacha on the relationship between globalisation and the rise of populism, while Harrison challenged the commonly-held perception that we should rely on governments to tackle climate change, instead making a convincing case for a range of free-market solutions.
It was a wonderful evening and a real pleasure to listen to so many engaged, articulate and well-informed speakers. In the hands of young people like this, the future is certainly bright.
