Year 13 Photographers and Miss Arlington visited the Julia Margret Cameron and Richard Learoyd exhibitions at the Victoria and Albert museum.
The work on display was a collection of Camerons work kept in the V&A vaults since donated by Cameron herself in the 1850s. She was heavily influenced by Christian stories and much of her work depicts religious figures from stories posed by her family and friends. Her work has a specific style capturing portraiture that is often striking and also dream like due to the sharp areas of focus amongst the very soft backgrounds. Richard Learoyd is a contemporary photographer who uses Camera Obscura the size of an entire room to capture the images directly onto photographic paper. This means that was no film or negatives involved in the process. Photography continues to be an exciting area of development and a prevailing from of Art.
