On Wednesday 11th October, charity reps from Year 9 and Year 10 headed to In-Deep, a charity supported by FHS, which provides help for the vulnerable.
The previous day the FHS community came together to contribute food and other items to the Harvest Festival Collection. For the first time ever, FHS pupils (in Years 6, 9 and 10) sorted the donations on-site to create Harvest bags (containing one of every key item) to be donated to In-Deep.
On arrival at the lunch club, we were all welcomed, and we sat down at tables to talk. We really enjoyed connecting with the older generations, who we might not always get an opportunity to communicate with. It was so interesting to listen to stories of people’s families and lives; for example, a Lebanese man who had family all across the globe, or a man who was born in Charing Cross Hospital, (which two years after he was born, was turned into a police station!).
Once we finished chatting, we handed out the packages! Everyone at In-Deep was extremely grateful to receive these wonderful parcels. We were very grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the amazing In-Deep and be able to help out.
