Running the Model United Nations (MUN) club for Year 10 has been a rewarding experience, especially as I prepare the students for their upcoming conference at Wimbledon High in June. I’ve focused on building their foundational understanding of MUN by teaching them its importance in developing diplomacy, public speaking, and global awareness. Over the past weeks, I’ve introduced them to key MUN skills, including how to confidently make Points of Information (POIs), draft effective amendments, and write clear, structured resolutions. After the Easter holidays, a mini MUN will be run where we properly go through a resolution, each person has been allocated a country which will be very exciting! Through guided practice sessions and mock debates, they’ve grown more confident and engaged, and I’m excited to hear how they perform at the conference.
