What a fantastic Book Week we have had at FHS this year! We have heard from our favourite authors, dropped everything to read and brought characters to life with our costumes and fancy dress.

Kev F. Sutherland visited the school on Wednesday to run comic strip writing workshops with girls from Year 5 and 6. ‘Beano’ lovers were thrilled to meet the man who draws and writes so much of their favourite comic. Girls were taught all the skills they needed to write, design and draw their own cartoons, and each also went away with a portrait of themselves drawn by Kev himself. What fun!

On Thursday, ‘Scarlet and Ivy’ author Sophie Cleverly spoke to Years 4 to 7 about her hugely popular mystery books. Sophie spoke about the inspirations for her book series, how she became an author and the books dearest to her growing up. She answered all of the wonderful questions our girls asked and signed copies of books for each girl.

Well done to everyone for bringing books to life and a special thanks to Miss Ivison for finding so many ways to celebrate the joys of reading.
