This year, for the first time ever, Francis Holland shadowed the Trinity Schools Book Awards (TSBA), exploring 14 titles chosen around the theme ‘You are here’. Pupils then had the opportunity to enter the Pupil Response Competition, for which they wrote a book review of or produced a creative response to a shortlisted title.
All the superb entries showed great skill, passion for their chosen book, and a nuanced understanding of its most important ideas and themes.
Our winners are:
Wylder F (Creative Response to A Flash of Fireflies)
Kayla K (Book Review of Hurricane Summer)
Chloe O (Creative Response to The House in the Cerulean Sea)
Carolina S (Creative Response to Dogs of the Deadlands)
Highly Commended:
Cara H (Book Review of Dogs of the Deadlands)
Lizzie G (Book Review of Bite Risk)
The four winners will move on to the national final, the winners of which will be announced at the TSBA Ceremony in late March at Emanuel School. At the ceremony, all the pupils who entered the competition will also have a chance to meet the authors of the books on this year’s shortlist.
Congratulations to our winners, and to all of the pupils who produced such fantastic responses to the shortlisted titles! All entries can be viewed in the Library through the end of Spring Term.
