The Junior school gathered on Wednesday 6th June to compete in the annual Junior Sports Day at Battersea Park.
It was an early start this year with the races kicking off at 9.15am. Events on the track included sprints, hurdles, relays and long distance. The Year 4, 5s and 6s had the option this year to compete in either the 600m or the 800m. All girls who were able to take part did so with determination and perseverance. The girls have been working hard in lessons running up to the competition and this was clear to see in their performances on the day. We were delighted to see how many girls still opted for the 800m race and performed the event with courage.
Unfortunately some girls were unable to attend the sports day this year but there was a real sense of team spirit and house morale as the girls stepped in for each other and participated in an array of different events. Ege in Year 4 smashed the school record for the school discus throwing an impressive 10m30. She was not the only performer who was awash with ribbons from the different events of the day.
The infants as always were truly inspiring and heart-warming in their performance in the infant field events but also their running events on the track. Following a sixth form runner, girls in Reception to Year 3 ran a full 150m on the track and did so with beaming smiles.
All staff, parents, sixth formers and supporters were very positive and supportive of all girls competing on the day. This contributed to it being one of the most successful Junior Sports Days so far. The parents also had the opportunity to compete by volunteering to race in the increasingly popular Mother and Fathers race.
Following on the success of the Senior School, Woolf took the win on the sports day this year. All teams celebrated with friends and family with a delightful picnic in the arena. It was a glorious day full of sunshine, high spirits and enjoyment.
