We returned to school with a bang this week as Little House of Science joined us to celebrate British Science Week on Monday. Jaws dropped to the floor and gasps of amazement were heard down the corridor as Mr Tim and Mr Oliver wowed us with bubbling chemical reactions, dry ice, gooey slime, elephant’s toothpaste and fascinating insights into the possibility of life on Mars.

In class, the girls were tasked with hands on science and STEAM challenges linked to the theme of ‘Innovating for the Future’. We saw the construction of new bridges for the Three Billy Goats Gruff, hydroponic seed planting, the use of chromatography to solve a puzzle and two-stage balloon rocket launching inspired by the Perseverance Mars 2020 mission. The girls have all demonstrated curiosity, creativity and determination during their lessons and there are certainly some super scientists and inventors in the making among us!

Please do encourage your daughter to take part in the British Science Week poster competition. Entries need to be returned to school by Monday 22nd March and further information about the competition can be found here.
