Miss Tammy Jacobs, Head of Drama

I am elated to be joining FHJS this academic year. I am a qualified English and Drama teacher and am currently in my final MA year for English Education. My teaching style is fun, nurturing, motivational and creative with a real passion for teaching both subjects. I have been Head of Drama in senior schools for over 5 years and have tutored English from KS1 through to GCSE for going on 3 years. Fun facts about me: I am the eldest of 8 siblings, have been a manager in the beauty industry, worked in recruitment as a PA to the Director, and performed my first dance show at the age of 5 at Alexandra Palace! As you can see, I have a vast and diverse work and personal background which have all influenced me to be resilient, confident, hard-working and just enjoy what life has to offer. In my free time, I like to spend time with friends and family, draw, dance, go to the theatre, indulge in poetry and travel around the world. I am looking forward to teaching at FHS and being a part of the girls’ educational journey  – whilst having fun!

Miss Amber Sharp, Year 1 teacher

My name is Amber Sharp and I moved to the United Kingdom, from Australia, at the beginning of this year. I completed my bachelor’s degree of Education at Deakin University, Australia, and graduated with High Distinction and Head of Year. I am so passionate about teaching, and love to see this enthusiasm become contagious in the pupils I teach. I have taught in all sectors across Australian schools and have also been fortunate enough to have taught in Vietnam and Switzerland as well. Before joining the incredible Francis Holland Junior School team, I was able to learn a lot from working at a variety of London schools through supply teaching. Outside of my passion for teaching, I love to travel, read, cook, and exercise. I am an avid sports fan and have just finished my season as the Best and Fairest winner of the Australian Rules Football season. I cannot wait to continue the school year with the wonderful staff and girls I have met already! Please come and say hello if you see me around the school. 😊

Miss Lara MacLennan, Year 6 Teaching Assistant

I am delighted to have joined the Francis Holland Junior School community as the Year 6 and English Specialist Teaching Assistant. My love of literature led me to read English at Cambridge and this was soon followed by a PGCE in English. Short stints in financial PR and consulting confirmed that working with young people to nurture their love of reading and writing is what I am most passionate about, and I have already been impressed by the girls’ enthusiasm for learning. I was not expecting to discuss Pride and Prejudice (my favourite novel) in the first week of Year 6, but it has come as a wonderful surprise! I am especially excited to be running Creative Writing Club, as this will be a chance for the girls and I to share ideas and learn from each other, all while having lots of fun. I look forward to reading the wonderful stories they will create. Outside of school, I spend a disproportionate amount of time thinking about, cooking, and eating food. I also enjoy reading, creative writing, yoga, and travelling.  Â
