This week we celebrated Harvest Festival in our Junior and Senior Schools.
The girls collected 30 boxes of foodstuffs for In-Deep, which will go to create almost 100 hampers for vulnerable or lonely elderly people in Westminster and Lambeth. Girls from Years 5 and 7 will go to sing Carols in December and present the Hampers in person.
In-Deep are a very small charity and we cherish the connection we have with them at FHS. Several girls in Year 12 are volunteering there this year and we have contributed almost 10% of their funding for the past several years via bake sales, retiring collections and other charitable activities.
Thank you to the girls that took the time to bring in items and have made sure that needy people will have food in their cupboards for the tricky months after Christmas. Recent news about the use of food banks means that initiatives like this are increasingly important. We are lucky that we have such a strong and effective connection with such a worthwhile local charity.
