To begin the ‘Year Of Creativity’ some girls in the upper sixth have come together to create their very own Zine.

A Zine is a limited run publication, usually simple to produce, by Artists in all areas to showcase their own work. Zines have become a popular and powerful format for communicating issues and sharing inspiration amongst Artist communities.

It will be a bi annual publication run entirely by the ‘Zine team’ consisting of: Lily Car-Gomm as Editor-In-Chief, Renata Cutrale as Art Director, Marina Cutrale and Phoebe White in the role of Picture Editor, Lydia Wilcox as the Copy Editor, Lily Sayre and Rainey Beveridge are Production Manager and Production Assistant with Maddy Beveridge as Marketing Manager and our creative consultants Bella Charlton and Alice Beddows. The team will secure contributions from members of the upper school which will include images, Art, short stories, poetry and interviews based on a soon to be revealed theme.

We were extremely lucky to have the support and guidance of talented Zine creators and Artists Steph Jed (Photographer) and Rose Nordin (Graphic designer) who collaborate together on a Zine about the New York skate scene entitled ‘Right To The bone‘. (can you hyperlink that to their website?) Rose and Steph kindly came in to school and delivered a wealth of visual inspiration and valuable advice for the girls. Their expertise and enthusiasm for their own work and the potential of the first Francis Holland Zine was contagious. Click to see more of Steph and Rose’s work and other brilliant Zines they work on. We are looking forward to welcoming them back for the launch of our first edition!
