We are delighted to have been named Finalist for the Muddy Stilettos Best Schools Passionate About Sport Award 2025!

Our sport programme has gone from strength to strength this academic year, with highlights including an Elite Multi Sports Weekend at Millfield School and the launch of our Elite Athletes Performance Mentoring Programme by Becky Wilde to support increasing numbers of regional and national athletes in sports including swimming, fencing, hockey, netball, athletics, tennis and gymnastics.

At the heart of our sports programmes are our enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated tribe of PE staff, led by our Director of Sport, Georgina Newsome, who offer support encouragement and guidance to our fearless athletes as they pursue their sporting goals.

Passion and perseverance are the only criteria for participation in FHS sport, and we are dedicated to promoting a lifelong long of sport and physical activity in all our pupils. With over 25 sports on offer and termly pupil surveys shaping the evolution of our programmes, we ensure that there is something to encourage every girl to find their passion, develop resilience and embrace sport as a space for belonging, connection and self-discovery.

Sport extends far beyond our gates, with a recent Netball Tour to Barbados and upcoming tour to Tenerife, rowing on the Thames, Hip Hop dance classes and indoor skiing. Sixth Formers explore spinning, padel and yoga, preparing for active lives beyond school.

We foster a sporting culture rooted in inclusivity, enjoyment and excellence. As one parent put it, “FHS recognises and fosters talents that the girls themselves may not realise they possess” and “no one is denied the opportunity to play.”

Thank you so much to Muddy Stilettos for recognising our programme and we look forward to announcement of the winners on 1st July. Congratulations to all the other nominees, including our little sisters, Francis Holland Prep, who are Finalists in the Dynamic Performing Arts category. A brilliant achievement!
