We are thrilled to report that, in the face of immense challenges as the ‘Covid cohort’, this year’s Upper Sixth students have produced outstanding results. Defying gloomy predictions in the media of plunging grades as exam boards started the pull back to pre-pandemic levels, 40% attained A* grades, with an astonishing 75% receiving A*/A. Almost all grades were at least a B and 10% of the cohort achieved three or more straight A*s, with several gaining four or five top grades. Their impressive commitment to their studies coupled with their wonderful support for one another have been central pillars of these superb outcomes. They would also be the first to acknowledge, with deep appreciation, the expertise and commitment of their teachers, not least during lockdown school closures. The exceptional online provision at this time enabled courses to be completed, and staff took particular care to ensure that the students’ learning was not restricted simply to the advance information supplied by the exam boards. Of particular note is the large number who took the Extended Project Qualification and achieved a top grade – showing the breadth and maturity of their research skills.

This year group was also the first to have enjoyed the inspirational working environment provided by our unique Sixth Form Centre, the Old School House, and this together with unparalleled pastoral care and exceptional mentoring from staff and our Learning Strategies team, has culminated in impressive academic achievement. The value we add to a child’s potential is huge. We are sending students to the US, Canada, and Europe as well as Oxbridge and top Russell Group destinations, and our girls are successfully gaining top places to study engineering, international relations, medicine, computer science, design, music and the arts – as well as innovative courses in film, fashion and technology.

Congratulations to the Class of 2022!
