Today our pupils and staff gathered in the playground for a VERY exciting event… Apple Day!
Following the success of our inaugural Apple Day last October, inspired by our Head, Mrs Haydon’s Somerset roots, we could not wait to see what our second Apple Day would bring. We asked each of our pupils and staff to bring in at least one apple (and the more the merrier ā anybody with a tree in their garden was encouraged to bring in a bagful!) and were hugely impressed by the variety of apples the girls brought in, each one as unique in character as the girl who brought it.
Following a fabulous apple-tastic lunch courtesy of our wonderful catering team, girls and staff gathered in the playground and enthusiastically got stuck into washing, pressing and juicing! The fruits of their labour were over 100 litres of a delicious and truly inimitable FHS apple juice which pupils and staff were delighted to call their own.
As well as complementing our pupils’ work on sustainability and helping them appreciate the satisfaction of field-to-fork eating, this day has helped us all recognise what we can achieve when we all come together as a community. Another wonderful FHS tradition in the making – bring on Apple Day 2026!
