Year 4 have worked hard this week to write poems based on the theme of Remembrance. Some girls read their work aloud to Mrs Dixon and Miss Smith in class who thought they were all very thoughtful, reflective, and made good use of repetition.
Don’t Forget – Elizabeth B
Don’t forget that there was war,
where young and innocent soldiers fought,
not knowing how dangerous the war would be.
Poppies grow all over the place,
A splash of colour, hope and life.
They remind us of the past,
And all the people who mad sacrifices.
The sacrifice they made have brought us
Freedom and peace, we thank a lot,
For all they did for our lives.
Don’t forget. They are all heroes.
Remember – Arianna S
Remember the soldiers in WWI
who fought for the world and for us.
Remember the sacrifices made for us,
to give thanks for our freedom.
Remember the soldiers who lost their lives,
who hope for us to live in peace.
We use poppies to remember the soldiers at war
who fought for tomorrow.
On the eleventh day
of the eleventh month
at eleven o’clock
We have a minute of silence
to remember soldiers at war.
We Remember – Margarita N
We remember,
how soldiers gave their lives for a better future,
and how they gave their today for our tomorrow.
The young and the strong go into battle,
for us to be happy and safe.
We remember on 11th November, how they sacrificed their lives
And we pray, pray, pray.
We remember,
The pain and suffering they went through.
And how the guns fired in their hearts,
but they don’t back down,
they never give up on our peace.
Our peace, peace, peace.
We remember,
how they left their families to fight for their country,
and die in the battlefield,
to lie in the poppies,
the poppies, poppies, poppies.
Soldiers – Amanda N
We were soldiers,
we were fighting for tomorrow,
we were fighting for the future,
we fought through pain.
We were soldiers.
Through the good and through the bad,
we believed we had resilience,
we tried to be the best,
though we limped through pain.
We were soldiers.
We will remember,
For the peace that they gave us,
And the better future we have.
We will remember.
