We are so proud of Caley Collins and Liberty Samuel in Lower Sixth who have had articles published in This is Local London newspaper as part of the Young Reporter Scheme.

Caley’s article discusses how the role of the quintessential library has changed over the course of the pandemic, focusing on Battersea Park Library as a shining example of this. The library has evolved from a centre of education and learning to a truly cohesive, cherished community gathering place, and Caley discusses all the new initiatives the library has put in place to brighten the lives of local, particularly vulnerable, residents.

Liberty’s piece compares Covid to the Grinch in an article discussing the anxieties of a cancelled Christmas caused by the new Omicron variant. Many of her peers are worried they are losing touch with family who live abroad after not being able to see them at Christmas for a second year in a row whilst some are optimistic for the future claiming it’s ‘just one Christmas for many more’.

Congratulations to Caley and Liberty for producing such thought-provoking articles and becoming a published journalist at such a young age. Caley’s full article can be read here and Liberty’s full article can be read here.
