On a bright sunny Tuesday morning in June Year 7, accompanied by teachers from the Science Department, walked down to Battersea Park to undertake some field studies.
The girls learned how to estimate the height of trees using nothing more than a pencil; they learned how to use a pooter to suck up small invertebrates to study; they also learned about flowers and how their structure is closely related to their function. Some creative and accurate drawings were made of various bugs and flowers, and the girls learned a lot about the diversity of life that can be found all around them.
The weather remained kind throughout the morning and after two hours of fieldwork they all trudged rather wearily back over Chelsea Bridge to school. Many thanks to Dr Marshall for organising such a fun and worthwhile event.
