Year 7 were super excited as we jumped on the tube last Friday afternoon and headed to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith to see Jack and The Beanstalk.

Our first impression as we entered the stage was of colour, music and happiness – it was a buzzing and lively show. As the grand curtains started to open, everyone was tingling with excitement and couldn’t wait for the performance to begin.

We thoroughly enjoyed the fact that the show gave many songs their own original twists, to match the scene of the story in a fun way. Another element we really enjoyed was that there were fewer actors performing than we expected, so they clearly had to adapt and try really hard with audience participation, which everybody appreciated.

In our Drama lessons, we have been learning about stock characters; the different characters and their classic personalities. A further aspect that we all noticed was that Jack was actually a girl, which was unexpected but interesting at the same time. Finally, we found the Dame particularly funny – she really drew the audience in!

All in all, this was a very memorable trip, and a great experience that everyone absolutely loved. Thank you so much to the Drama Department for taking us!
