On Wednesday, Year 7 went on a day trip to see the Roman Baths at Bath with the Classics department. After a long coach journey, we disembarked into the beautiful city of Bath and began exploring.

During the day, pupils got the chance to wander around the site of ancient Aquae Sulis and learn all about Roman bathing and social practices. The group also took part in a workshop where we translated some real Latin inscriptions and then handled real Roman artefacts excavated in Bath. One highlight was trying to figure out the uses of a small toolkit including eyebrow pluckers, nail cleaners, and earwax spoons.

By the end of the day, we returned to Sloane Square happy (but tired) and knowing quite a lot more about how the Romans kept themselves clean!
