We had a fantastic TIPS programme this week filled with so many enriching experiences! On Monday, Year 7 participated in the Apprentice Challenge where they had to make a business proposal and pitch it to a panel of judges! On Tuesday, Year 7 spent the day with the Young Film Academy, producing amazing short films! Today, Year 8 enjoyed an adventurous day at Crystal Maze, filled with teambuilding activities! They also let out their punk side with Trashion Show by The Fashion School where they upcycled old clothing to create their own Vivenne Westwood-style clothing, which they showcased in our catwalk show!

Pupils also took the time to reflect on how they have developed their 7 Cs (Creativity, Curiosity, Commitment, Collaboration, Communication, Craftmanship and Confidence). Here are some of their comments below;

Year 7 Apprentice Challenge

  • “My highlight from the apprentice challenge was the brainstorming. I chose this because I realised how many breathtaking ideas can change and improve the state of the world. I found that proposing our idea to the judges was the most challenging because you are performing in front of a large audience and for me it can feel a little bit nerve racking. I went through it and I now I fear it less!” – Mila C
  • “I enjoyed listing to the motivational speaker tell his story because I thought it was very inspirational.” – Melek U
  • “My favourite part was listening to all of the other presentations and what product they came up with . some of them were very interesting and creative , stuff that was completely out if this world! I developed my creativity with creating the product, my confidence when making our speech and my communication when working in a team.” – Amanda N

Year 7 Young Film Academy

  • “One of the best parts of my experience at Young Film Academy was making a no-sound movie. It pushed us to get really creative with how we told the story, since we couldn’t rely on dialogue or sound effects. I enjoyed coming up with visual ways to express emotions and actions—it made me think more like a real filmmaker. It was also a lot of fun working with the team, planning out each shot, and acting everything out in exaggerated ways to make sure the message came through.” – Elizabeth B
  • “I really enjoyed watching everyone else’s films as they were all so funny. I also really enjoyed creating our films. We had loads of ideas but eventually decided what to do.” – Sophia D
  • I enjoyed watching everyone’s films at the end because they were all unique and everyone loved them. I found timing the actions right quite hard and I learned that nothing goes perfectly first time. – Charlotte C

Year 8 Trashion Show

  • “It was amazing and interesting to learn how to stick fabrics together. I loved the message that your clothes should express yourself!” – Bela G
  • “I really tapped into my creative spirit to create my outfit. The fashion designers were amazing at helping us develop our ideas. It was great to learn different techniques and to walk the catwalk!” – Alice V

Year 8 Crystal Maze

  • “Crystal Maze was thrilling; it felt like you were transported into different worlds for each activity! I had to problem solve with my team which bonded us together, especially at the end when we were all jumping to get the most tickets!” – Laura A
  • “Crystal Maze surpassed my expectations; I had no idea what to expect but now I’ve done it, I can’t wait to go again! I loved helping and cheering my group as they did their activities and throwing the beanbags accurately to hit the targets in my activity!” – Izabele B
