With 11 + interviews firmly behind Year 6, the girls embarked upon their exciting new English unit about Sherlock Holmes, centering around the Hound of the Baskervilles story. The girls have already begun to immerse themselves in the character of Holmes by analysing his personality traits. The class focused on the manner in which the super sleuth moved, grooved, talked and treated others. The start of their journey into the study of the world’s most famous detective began with the historical context of Victorian London. Some were shocked at the crime rate surging through our capital at the time of Conan Doyle’s writing. This provided inspiration for the girls to create their very own fictional detective. In the coming weeks, this will culminate in a competition where the girls will come into school dressed as their very own detective character. Mrs Dixon and Miss Smith will judge the winner of the most exciting character created by individual girls.
