Last Friday, Year 11 went on an Art Trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum. We explored the gallery and absorbed as much as art as we could. Some of us settled down to sketch, and others continued to explore the gallery spaces to find inspiration for their GCSE art projects looking at art from exhibitions on Sculpture, Jewellery, Religious Art, Victorian Fashion and Design. It was an inspirational visit, as it gave us an opportunity to sketch and look at art that was not accessible in the art rooms. I found that being able to draw some of the sculptures, such as Theseus and the Minotaur (by Antonio Canova), were the most helpful as I had never done that kind of observational drawing before.
