This year we are launching a new way of working with authors in the junior school.

As well as the visits on world book day in March and October we are introducing more extended workshops in years 4, 5 and 6. Each year group will take part in a series of sessions with an author they admire. The aim of these extended visits is to not only to inspire and excite the girls, but to really embed creativity into their learning and introduce different approaches to storytelling.

The one off visits are brilliant, but we felt extended projects would have a more meaningful impact on the girls learning and creativity.

We were very lucky to have Emma Shevah work as resident author to year 4. Emma’s work explores? identity, families and belonging and her project involved creating a memorable character, writing a short story about it, discussing ways to expand the story and then editing and improving their writing.
