The 2025 Academic Ambassadors’ Essay Competition culminated in a lovely Celebration Tea on Tuesday, when all of the participants were invited to a gathering in the OSH to celebrate their academic endeavours and to hear the announcement of the winner and runners up. The Academic Ambassadors – Katie G, Millie S and Clara L – and I were impressed by all of those who took the time and effort to get involved, and it was brilliant to have entries from every year group from Year 7 to the Lower Sixth.

Participants chatted over tea about their differing titles and what they had learnt from the experience, and Mrs Haydon joined us to award certificates and prizes. The overall winner was Elizabeth B in Year 8, who wrote an essay on ‘What does literature tell us about society?’, while highly commended was awarded to Kayla K in Year 11, Hannah S in Year 9 and Sophia D in Year 8.

Edition 3 of the Academic Almanac will contain the winning and highly commended essays so do keep an eye out for that publication in the Spring Term.
