We are delighted to have held a TEDx license for four years now. TEDx events are local gatherings where live TED-like talks and performances are shared with the community, with each event featuring short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations, and performances that focus on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder – and provoke meaningful conversations. The goal of a TEDx event is to spark conversation, connection, and community; nurturing important skills for the future including critical thinking, creativity and storytelling and also highlighting the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping the future. What better way for our FHS Fearless Girls to boldly put forward their unique ideas?
This year’s theme is ‘What’s the story…?’ and 19 Lower Sixth students presented their innovative ideas on a diverse variety of topics of their choosing on Tuesday. Talks included discussions on the underrepresentation of women in Formula 1, a comparison between the main protagonists in ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ and ‘Great Expectations’, a blueprint for an utopian health system, and “How do women get away with murder?”.  We were was so impressed by creativity, maturity and refinement of the girls’ ideas – their talks were spell-binding, thought-provoking and showcased impressive research and presentation skills.

Congratulations to all our speakers – they really are shaping up to be the leaders, thinkers, innovators and gamechangers of tomorrow – and thank you to our Head of Futures & Innovation, Caroline Wilkes.
