As part of the ‘Working Lunch Series’ this week we heard from Oliver Dunger, Investment Banker at Cantor Fitzgerald. Oliver gave a general introduction and overview of the industry covering front office jobs across Corporate Finance, Sales & Trading and Equity Research before focusing in on day-to-day life as an investment banking analyst and how a typical Mergers and Acquisition transaction unfolds. Oliver discussed opportunities to gain experience and build out a fulsome CV during one’s time at University including attending ‘Spring Insight Weeks’ and securing Summer Internships in one’s second or third summer at university and the importance of networking and establishing connections in the industry to give oneself the best chance at breaking into the highly competitive industry.
